Congolese citizens become actors in the fight against corruption

On January 2018, we launched the Corruption Reporting Center based on the Advocacy and Legal Advice Center (ALAC) model developed by Transparency International (TI), implemented in more than 30 countries throughout the world, and adapted to the specificities of the Congolese context. The ALAC project has permitted the ACRC to mobilize pro bono lawyers in charge of handling corruption cases. Participatory budgeting in congolese secondary schools

Schools around the Uvira in South-Kivu are using participatory budgeting (PB) to engage students, parents, educators, and staff in deciding how to spend a part of the school budget. School PB develops student leadership, supports student and school success, liftup student and parent voice, and involves the entire school in meaningful civic experiences. Helping the poorest children advocate for better education services

When poor children access to education, they often cannot obtain quality education nor participate in decision making at school level. That often prevents them from receiving education in better environment with better toilets, clean water, library and safer classroom.  In the low income neighborhoods around Ruzizi Valley, thousands of children have been obliged to study in poorly equipped and poorly governed private schools just to gain access to education. Teaching  Integrity and Anti-Corruption is needed to foster anti-corruption culture in young generation especially with learning activities. It aims to create a culture of anti-corruption to students that Anti-Corruption Education is an important thing in everyday life. Integrity Education is an essential part of the ACRC strategy to combat corruption in schools. Our program help educate young Congolese students about the basic concepts of transparency, gender equality, social inclusion, democratic society, justice, human rights, tolerance, and the social accountability mechanisms.
