About the Campaign
Decades of civil war as well as the government’s weakness has devastated educational infrastructure and institutions in DRC. Also, corruption hampers all development efforts, but it is a debilitating presence in the education sector, undermining the goal of ensuring that all children and youth go to school and learn. As a result many young people are left behind and fail to gain the skills they need to secure their future.
Young people have the potential to drive real change as today’s citizens and tomorrow’s leaders. By providing youth with training and support we will enable them to be active agents of positive change championing anti-corruption and transparency in their communities and enable them to use technology to monitor the implementation of education projects and services and support them to collaborate with stakeholders to make sure problems are fixed.
To be established in secondary schools, the “Integrity Clubs” sets out to develop the next generation of leaders to be catalysts of changes in Democratic Republic of the Congo and inspires them to stand up to monitor education and infrastructure services in their schools and communities and provide citizen-led oversight and feedback through “www.DevelopmentCheck.org”.
